Because of his last post, I felt he HAD to be the first one on my list. He is such a humble and positive person. Many of us have had the pleasure of his support as a follower on our blogs. When I visit his blog, I realize whatever project I am working is not quite finished. His work challenges me to work just a little harder.
I constantly tell him, whenever I see anything he is working on, I get a lump in my throat. It is like looking at a classic piece of art!
He was also the winner of my "guess how much this dollhouse cost" contest.
I introduce to you: GIAC of :
http://englishmanordollhouse.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-art-gallery-and-hell-ceiling.html
Enjoy!
To show you how much influence Giac has had on me, you will see the changes I am making all through all of my houses. I realized there was a lot more to do in one of my dining rooms. I decided to keep the green color scheme it came with. The door frames will be added soon. Most of my houses are pre-made, so that overhang on the left was already there . I refer to myself as the HGTV of dollhouses which means I have to figure out how to make this better! lol.
Now, I can't decide what size crown molding I should add. In my mind, it seems it should be the same size as the extension on the left because it looks lopsided. At the same time, I believe I have seen rooms with two different sized crowns in the same room. Both the ceiling medallion and crown molding will be gold.
Once the molding is figured out I will add more wall décor and the other accessories I have.
This table is too small. It is just to give me an idea of what I want there. The next time you see this room, it will be very different. The more I look at it the more new ideas I get!
This is one of the patterns of molding I have. None are as deep as the overhang on left. |
The closer I look and the better the lighting I am beginning to feel the carpet color is a bit off. |

Hi Wyrna!
DeleteYes, I would be sitting here staring at my projects a lot of the time if I didn't get inspiration from all of you!
Yes, Giac is such a humble and positive man, I agree with you. He loves sharing his ideas and miniature on his blog with us :D! He now enjoys a holiday with his friend.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could write better in English, then I would do that too. But I am still learning a lot by reading all of your foreign blogs, it takes me a lot of time to do, but I love it ;).
Regarding your room: I can't see the overhang very well, but maybe you can put a crown list on the overhang and work with the same model of crown lists around the room? I hope you know what I mean? My poor English is not enough to make myself clear, so please, don't get me wrong, I try to help.
I think the carpet color is fine, but personally I think the dessin is a bit crowded (I don't know how to say this in correct English) I hope I didn't offend you? Please, you really have to tell me if I have said too much, I don't want to be a wiseacre...... If I do, please remove this comment, okay?
Hugs, Ilona
Hi there Ilona,
DeleteI don't think you know how important your opinions are to me! I understand what you are saying. I think the carpet is making the room look to crowded. I thought about putting some crown on the overhang...I will see how that looks. :-)
thank you for posting this, I wavered about fixing my first roombox, it didn't turn out the way I wanted it too and I really wasnt happy with it so I think it's time for a redo. I agree with your post about Giac He is a wonderful person and I get so many wonderful ideas from him (and from other Mini artist too..dont want to leave you guys out while Im gushing) I'll be watching to see what you do to your room.

Hi Steinworks,
DeleteWe are lucky to have people who push us to use our talents more fully. It doesn't matter what their ability level. Even the novice can be encouraging! I have removed everything from the dining room and starting over. I think it can look better. So I will do better!
I think it is a great idea to introduce and present the people and blogs we all admire! Giac is very special and i fully agree with you!! :)

Lovely shout out to Giac. His talent is endless and truly inspiring. Very nice of you to feature him.
ReplyDeleteI have a personal request for you... could you add "Follow by Email" to your blog? I wrote a tutorial about it at the link below, but it basically allows people to sign up on blogger and every time you post something, they will automatically get it sent to their inboxes. You don't have to do anything other than add the blogger gadget.

I have a hard time going and visiting blogs so I miss a lot of your posts, but if you add "Follow by Email" I'll never miss a single one. :D
Hi there Mini Dork!
DeleteIt was a pleasure to highlight Giac. If you look waaaay at the bottom of all of the posts you should see the gadget for follow by email. Please let me know if it is not working!
D'oh!! Sorry, by bad. I found it. And more embarrassing, I was already signed up. I accidentally had them filtered to a folder I wasn't checking with other newsletters (coupons and stuff). I found the emails and moved them to my inbox so I'll actually see them. It's as if I've never used a computer. Thanks and have a great weekend!!
