Hi everybody!

I have made little progress since my declaration. I am pleased I got at least a little done. Here is my current progress as promised.

A couple of years ago, I saw container looking very much like this one in a recycle bin. I tried to ignore it, but it kept whispering-kitchen. I checked it for the recycle number. There wasn't one and it appeared not to be within the levels my town collects. So I rescued it.

I had to figure out exactly what it meant by "kitchen"  knowing it had to do with minis. When I brought it home and placed it in the cat house, I knew! The width was perfect although it was a little low for the dolls.
I didn't want them burning their knees while cooking, so these two pieces of foam core are going to be glued together then added to the bottom of the unit to lift the kitchen unit.

There is one thing this project is teaching me. Be precise. Drawing straight lines and cutting them are not my forte as you can see with the foam core (no worries it will be covered). I learned to take my time and use as many steps are required to get things straight. Be patient. Make as many careful pass throughs with your cutting tool as you need. I used to make a few then bend the piece back and try to break it apart. Now, I will make passes until I cut it completely off.

Since this is going to be a gourmet kitchen,  it needs a six burner cooktop. It is simply a googled  picture printed on photo paper reinforced with cardboard because it will be over a hole. One day I just might make one from scratch. I plan to make a large sink to go into the other hole. The backsplash tile will be this gray base with a combination of muted colors. Also, photo paper printed google pics. The sides are cut out like notches to match up better.

The label was unyielding when I tried to take it off.  So, I decided to spray stainless steel appliance paint over the paper and all. Big mistake! The paper began to bubble. There was nothing else to do except to try to remove the paper. Ugh! It came out looking like this.

Ugh! Ugh! I tried using a p220 grit sandpaper to get it off. It didn't budge. Next, I skipped to 80 grit. Nope. My next attempt will be with a sander. I will be back with the results.
Wish me luck!

Here is  a snapshot of the bedroom so far. There is a matching comforter that needs to be adjust because it is a little too big.

Declaration of Completion

HAPPY NEW YEAR
MY FRIENDS!

Recently, I took a look around at my dollhouses. All are pretty much unfinished projects. Shame on me. As most of you know,I don't enjoy building houses from scratch so I purchase them pre-owned and perform a house-ectomy on them.

I have vowed:

IN THIS YEAR OF OUR LORD, 2019, I resolve that, I, The Grandmommy,  shall complete and make available for view as many projects as I can.

I am showing this video here to put myself and my resolution up for public scrutiny and hopefully encouragement.

I hereby promise I will make available, updates and completions as they occur.

For some of these projects it means gluing and or waxing some items down as, when they are turned to view the interior, everything falls. For others it may be pretty near refurbishment. In this process, I intend to new try things and learn a lot.

This is just a small portion of my projects. As you can see, there are 1:12 and 1:6 scales. A few smaller ones will get attention later.
So I had better get busy!

Please critique with suggestions and ideas. I am very open at this point.

Wish me luck!

Shedding a Little Light on Fountains

Hi Everybody!

I am trying to get back into my blog which I enjoy so much. Life keeps interfering, but there are so many great ideas to share!

Look forward to seeing posts of my current projects. I also need some of your opinions on a couple of them. As always, I am working on more than one. Also on the list is to complete all of the partially completed projects.

I saw these ideas while surfing. Don't you think this would look awesome in an outdoor scene? Although it is beyond my skill set, I know some of you will find this super easy.

If anyone decides to make one please share! I would love to see them.

You may find other interesting things on the website for your mini and average life.

Tell me what you think!

  Hi Everybody!

This is a great guideline for designing for this time period. I saw the movie and loved it. You can see it on Youtube. I learned a lot from this video. Hope you do too!

First Dress Up!

Hi Everybody!

Grab a look at the first of the dresses Presto remade from the dress I sent her!  For my 1:12 friends this is a Pullip doll. She is smaller than Barbie. Her body might be about the size of a Monster High doll.

You can also see it on her blog.  HERE  What do YOU think?

Look for the next one soon.

I still have a few left if anyone would like to compete against her! As you can, see you will need to be really good!
Excellent job, Presto!

Two Ready Contestants!

There didn't seem to be as much interest in this contest as the ones I had for 1:12 scale. So, we will go with the two people who want to participate.  I hope everyone will participate in the vote for the best dressed dress!

OK Presto and Shannon we are going to go with the two of you! Please send your contact information and I will get the dresses to you! I think I might try my hand on the third one!

1:12ers look for another contest as soon as I figure one  out!

Dress the Dress!

There is nothing like going to the mailbox to find a a fun item for your minis. So,  once or twice a week I order something that cost  one or two dollars. Usually, it is from Ebay, but can be from Wish.com or any other website.

Recently, I purchased a pack of Fashion doll dresses from China. I knew they wouldn't be gorgeous. When I got them, I was still excited to open the package, because well a surprise is a surprise! The fabric patterns are cute yet very cheap. All of them are cut in the same basic design.

This sparked something in my head. How about a contest for my fashion doll followers!

Three dresses will be sent to the first three people who wish to participate. They will have until midnight February 28th EST. to decorate the dress any way they like, then send a picture to me of a fashion doll wearing the finished product that I will then post. They may keep the dress.  I will ask the remaining followers to vote which dress is fashioned the best and the person with the most votes will win a bag of crafting supplies of ribbons, assorted beads, fabric and lots of other goodies!

Requirements for the contest is only to be a follower of this blog.

Here are the dresses:

Cat's Den

I am having such a difficult time with the cat house. It is a challenge to my comfort zone to design ultra modern rooms. My first thought was sparse with hard lines, industrial look and industrial colors. That is so not me. So, I researched online. There were some ultra modern looks that I liked that weren't harsh. I am working on getting into that feel.

In the meantime this room was in my mind. It will not be ultra, but instead be a place to get away from it with softer lines, comfort and nature all around. There will be lots of plants and an aquarium and anything that says soft and peaceful. The accent color will be a soft green and some prints to tie it all together.

I plan to use the painted chairs...the other furniture may not stay or will be refinished. I have a few other pieces I want in there also.

It is the room on the the right end lower level of the house.

This was the first flooring I put down. It is actually leftover wallpaper from one of my bathrooms.

There was a recess in the wall so I decided to make it a built-in aquarium. The color is off in the background which means adjusting it and printing it out again before I add the fish etc. The choice of lights above it is still rolling around in my head.
You can see the bamboo flooring in place here.
This is a place mat I bought a few months ago. I decided to replace the the bamboo one with it after I saw how well it went with the chairs I painted.

Chew On This!

Only a miniaturist is not even able to eat a piece of gum without seeing a mini in the packaging! As soon as I opened the package, I saw white paper bags.  The entire package comes in the plastic container they are sitting on that is great for storing mini things or file cards for each project! The gum is not bad either!

Lunch any one?

I tried to think of something to use the silver wrapping for. Can you think of something?

GETTING MY MOJO BACK!

Starting 2018 Right!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful 2018. I have vowed to blog more and do more with my hobby.

Just to let you know what I have done so far. I am not sure what this was. It looked much like a napkin holder. I wasn't sure how I was going to divide it so it would be big enough for a bed. So it sat there for years.

One day when I was reaching for something else it fell and split exactly in half the way I wanted it. I put is aside. Yesterday I happened to see it again and ideas started  popping into my head. I made it in about 10 minutes while I was on the phone with my daughter. It practically made itself!

The tile you see under the bed is the floor for the living room of the "Cat House" I am currently working on.

A special shout out to Mildred Henderson
and other county friends !

Sorry about the poor photo quality. I need a better lite

Very strong cardboard from a kitty litter box

Another lighter piece of cardboard to make it more stable
Estimating the size (sorry she is not properly dressed!)

This is what each end looks like on the outside

Now, to make the bedding

This is from the bottom. The middle is silver but my reflection is in it. Thinking of covering it.
This is the room it is going to go into

Hi Everybody!

I am still here and enjoying your posts. Hope all of  my friends in the US and Canada enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Do people in other countries also have a Thanksgiving holiday?

Recently I bought something a little strange. You know how I love to re-purpose things. Well, I saw this thing in a thrift shop and immediately saw something mini! It was meant to be a cat walk to get the cat onto certain furniture or a bed. That's carpeting on the top.

My eyes saw it as either an ultra modern house or a parking garage for my office building. I need  feed back from my favorite mini people...you!

What do you think it should be?

Please give me your opinions and ideas.

Thanks!
Grandmommy

Houses Around the Books/ Tree Ring Circle of Fun!

Hi Everybody (waving vigorously)👋

Boy oh boy am I a happy mini-lover! A library in my area has started a mini group! As we all know miniaturism can be such an isolating hobby. Requiring only one set of hands. Yet, we also know nobody understands us like we do. So having like minded people around is more than fun. It is stimulating!

It started one day around Halloween.  There was a mini display in the library vestibule. "Excuse me" I had to ask the lady at the desk..."can you tell me who put that display together out there?" From there it went.

We meet once a month to make tiny things and chat about...whatever! The ladies are ultra talented and everyone has something to add. It is a diverse group. Whoever desires can lead the group for the monthy mini project. All we have to bring is ourselves. Most times, there will be other items on display around the room by whomever wants to share their creations. What is even more awesome is we brainstorm with one another when we are stumped about something we are working on at home. It can even be brought in to get live feedback.

The librarian, who started it all, is a full mini addict from "across the pond" and participates equally. She makes me think of my followers who also hail from other countries. Sorry, I don't have any pictures as yet, but promise some in the future.

So far, the group has made a water feature, tiny pillows, cake from bread scraps, bead perfume vanity trays, tote-bags and maybe a few other things before I joined.  I presented the perfume trays and pillows.

********************************

A couple of weeks ago while I was out of state, I just happened to be exploring a thrift shop I had never seen. I was shopping along minding my business, when out of the corner of my eye I saw this.  (Move over kid. Let them see! Can't blame him...I feel the same way.)

Melissa & Doug Classic Wooden Tree House Set | Overstock.com Shopping - Big Discounts on Melissa and Doug Play Sets:
https://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Melissa-Doug-Classic-Wooden-Tree-House-Set/3164427/product.html
This is not a picture of mine...of course. (I would be in the picture hovering over him) It is from Overstock.com

The swing was all I could really see in my line of vision which was quickly sized up in my mini mind. Yep! Looks 1:12 to me!  I tried not to look crazy and run in slow motion to grab it before the child in front of me got to it. I had already skulked around waiting patiently for her to put the Barbie bike down. So, I sauntered over then swooped it quickly into my shopping cart...just in case.

Mine is missing a few parts including the house on top, a trapdoor bridge next to the house, the tire  swing ( seems I saw it  around here somewhere ) and tree branches that I am sure I have in my stash (or Dollar Tree time!). It is a bit wobbly making it hard to move for pictures just yet. Which means it still needs tender loving care, and that is perfect, because this is the very project my granddaughter and I had planned to make one day. A TREEHOUSE! I can see birds and animals and a few other things added.

Oh yeah, it was discounted that day costing me about $2.75! 😎😎😎

Took a break in the break room!

HI EVERYBODY!

I had a strange incident a few months ago. I will only say I have to be careful who knows about this blog. I had a weirdo who was following me from blog to blog. I was shocked and felt uneasy because I had no idea he was doing that. I live in a very small town and I guess word has traveled about my blog.

He was a Sears repairman who asked about a post about me on another site. "So, you travel a lot?" was the comment. I had just mentioned that in the other blog. There was no other way he could have known that. I don't like the idea of a stranger knowing I am may not be at home.

At any rate I can't allow that to deter me from what I enjoy. All of you, your blogs and my own blog. I will just have to be more careful about certain things.

So, I AM BACK!

I thought this was so cute! There is one with a tiny car I will share next
Don't forget to tap on the full screen to see it better

I have gotten back to my office complex among other things while I was on break
This is the beginning of the break room

I bought the sandwiches online from China. The machine is a pill container I painted black. If I find something else I like better  I may change it. Also need a soda machine

This is the whole office comlex. Lots of work to be done here! There is an event planner office, and a few others I am still working out in my mind.
You can see the break room on top of the second tower from the left.

This is the start of the lobby. The elevator door is only propped against the back wall. The green part on the floor is just a mat and will be removed when the carpet is in place.
The wall paper is real life wall trim cut to size

Hello every one,

I am checking out how to change my blog. Something creepy happened from a stranger follower. I want to either make it private or shut it down.

Any suggestions?
