Declaration of Completion

HAPPY NEW YEAR
MY FRIENDS!

Recently, I took a look around at my dollhouses. All are pretty much unfinished projects. Shame on me. As most of you know,I don't enjoy building houses from scratch so I purchase them pre-owned and perform a house-ectomy on them.

I have vowed:

IN THIS YEAR OF OUR LORD, 2019, I resolve that, I, The Grandmommy,  shall complete and make available for view as many projects as I can.

I am showing this video here to put myself and my resolution up for public scrutiny and hopefully encouragement.

I hereby promise I will make available, updates and completions as they occur.

For some of these projects it means gluing and or waxing some items down as, when they are turned to view the interior, everything falls. For others it may be pretty near refurbishment. In this process, I intend to new try things and learn a lot.

This is just a small portion of my projects. As you can see, there are 1:12 and 1:6 scales. A few smaller ones will get attention later.
So I had better get busy!

Please critique with suggestions and ideas. I am very open at this point.

Wish me luck!

  1. What a lovely collection of structures you have to work with and I am sure derive much inspiration from! It never works if it feels like work, so getting inspired is an essential element of completing or rehabbing any project. Can't wait to see which one you start with, and I hope it carries you away with excitement!

  2. Hi Jodi! Thanks:-). Right now I am kind fixing/addings for a few minutes whenever I walk pass. Soon, I will be doing larger jobs. I have enough structures to open a small museum. Which at one time was my goal. Stay tuned!

  3. To me, your bookstore also looks like it could be a yarn store, but maybe that's just me. :) I also love the log cabin house and am interested to see what you do with it. I'll be watching for your new posts.

    1. Hi Barb! I can see a yarn store also! Thanks for making me see it in different ways. The cabin was originally a general store. I never thought of making it something else. Hmmm lets see.

  4. Here's a big project idea that I have: I want to set up a dollhouse with rooms that match the historical period of the mini American Girl dolls that I have. That would take me a while!

  5. I guess now is the time to start collecting and making goodies. I think that is as much fun as putting it all together. Good luck and don't forget to share!

    1. Hi Daydreamer!
I made this post because I knew my friends here would understand. I think I am going to have to be disciplined and carve out a time each week to work on something...anything! Knowing people are waiting to see what I do hopefully will inspire me.

  7. I also live in a world of unfinished roomboxes and dollhouses, and I do hope to move some along this year. I vowed to finish my Malibu doll house several years ago, and I still haven't! so I'm modifying my expectations now. But I would like to be able to show off some finished projects!

    1. Hey there Penelope!
I even have collected things to go into the projects! I really need to do better. The hobby is a good one and it makes me feel so calm and relaxed. Here's to this year of minis!

  8. You are not alone Grandmommy! I have 4 built but unfinished dollhouses and 2 pending roomboxes still on my to-do list.
I think I'm going to need another lifetime to get everything finished! Meanwhile I would suggest the following: that you choose the one project of yours that you enjoy working on The Most and complete it both inside and out. It will raise your spirits as well as encourage and then inspire you! ♥️ :D

    1. Hiya Elizabeth!
I wish I could be like you. When you get started you keep going until you get unbelieveable results. I drool at your work and the realism you create. Maybe if I were as good as you I might do more. Keep up that inspiring work you do.I am most amazed at how you make things so close to the time period and culture.

Saludos!

  12. You can do it! You have a lot of nice structures!! Maybe work on one at a time until completion. I also place items inside the room or box that I plan to use in there. That way when I am ready to work on it, I have everything that I need.

  14. I love it! 2019 Declarations! I've been in a slump for a good while and your post is inspiring. I feel you, even though I don't build houses. How about starting with the project that you think will take the least amount of work/ time for some quick gratification? I'm looking forward to seeing what you start with!
