ALMOST THERE!

First, thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who left those awesome comments! You have no idea how much that encourages me! Welcome to my new followers! Hugs to my, old, er, loyal followers/supporters! LOL I have been crazy busy these days! But, I just wanted to squeeze in a few pictures of some of the mini-ing I have been able to do. I constantly walk past the Chess-taurant, add/change something then keep moving until I can do a little more later!

Since the last post, I have added the pictures on the wall, changed the bathroom signs (still king and queen), added wallpaper and chair rail to the back wall, added the cooler with the pot pies I made years ago, changed back to the original smaller counter-then added a new top to it, on the left wall you will see a little "free wifi" sign, changed window frame from gold to brown and on the back wall you will see a keep calm and play chess sign and a few other odds and ends. There are just a few more things left to do. Look for more teeny details when I am finished. I still have a bit of teeny and "big" items to add believe it or not! So far I am pretty happy with the way it is turning out. :-)

When I am finished I will go over all of the little tricks I learned along the way and go more into detail.

Be Back Soon!

I know the picture on the wall is crooked. My arm got tired trying to get them even! I will try again later :-/  Of course the cash register will not remain Barbie pink!

I like these two signs better.
They seem to go with the tone of the Chess-taurant better

I wanted to add the rest of the outdoor scene in the window, but my printer is making everything look red-ish for some reason...sigh

If you look at the picture above you will see this sign next to the "window" (yes, I know I need to trim that wood. I will explain later) The window frame gets another coat or so of paint

This customer went to the restroom...I wonder if it was the King or Queen? hmmm lol (pssst, do you know you left your e-reader on the table?)

I made these pot pies a couple of years ago just to try them out. Those are plastic Barbie cake slices. Sorry you can't see the credit cards we accept...we will take whichever one you have! :-)

That is a US penny sitting atop the chess set that someone is going to be playing with.

The counter stools are missing and getting some touch ups right now. The back wall is going to be filled up and other items added all over

This should be the next to last post on this project. The next post will show the finished product!

  5. Wow, so much detail in such a small space. This is 1:12 scale, right? I don't know if my hands could work on something that small. What it is, without any doubt, is awesome. You attention to the little details, like the WIFI sign and the eReader that the customer left on the table is amazing. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    1. Hiya Phyllis!
Thanks! I really appreciate your comments. Yes, this is 1:12. Actually, I am always knocking something over. I even break things sometimes!
I will have to compare it to something in a picture so everyone can better see the scale.
Words like yours stimulate even more ideas! :-)

  7. It's obvious that you have put a lot of thought and time into this project. I love the idea that it's themed. I imagine the place being frequented by some brainy proffessors who like to chill with a cappuchino and a game of chess =0)

  11. Hi grandmommy, do you also have a chair for my grandmommy in your cosy chess-taurant ;)!? I thought I'll just ask, because I've just learned her how to use her new smartphone and after I've installed WhatsApp, she wants to app with everyone, but therefore she will need free Wi-Fi ;)! She may be old, but she said to me that she would love to meet a handsome professor. Maybe he will offer her a nice cup of tea in your gorgeous chess-taurant and he will learn her how to play chess :D LOL!
I love all the additions and changes you made and I can't wait until this roombox is finished, so you can say: checkmate :D!! I love to play on words ;)!
Thanks for your humoristic comment on my blog, loved to read it :).

    1. Hi Ilona!!
Thanks! Your Grandmommy is certainly welcome. I just hope she doesn't have a problem with crowds. It seems everybody is coming. LOL You can also bring the granny doll when she gets her new outfit on your blog. LOL
I have one particular doll I am going to put in there.
I am glad you got a laugh...what is life without humor? The real name was "Checkmate", but I kept calling it the Chess-taurant so I kept that name! Thanks for the reminder! You may see "checkmate" in there somewhere if I can find the right spot in there somewhere.

    1. Roxanne, Hi!
Thanks! Your words mean a lot to me. I remember when I first started with miniatures and a blog. I thought I just didn't have what it took. I used to make so many mistakes! Still do. When my daughters were young and we had a dollhouse, we always bought commercial items for the house.

I see so many talented miniaturist it pushes me to do my very best. I couldn't do it without all of you. Believe me.

I am glad you like it! When I was putting up the signs I started to get bogged down and wondering...are men and women restrooms always on the same side. Men on left women on right or men on right etc. LOL

  20. The cafe's coming together beautifully, love the King and Queen signs (and the free wifi -a nice humourouse touch), and yes, you're right the pink cash register has to go - or at least the pink has to go LOL Thanks for your comment on my bed makeover - I hope you will do the china cabinet!

I really feel the urge to get into some sort of miniature creations but I don't have enough space or knowledge to start with, maybe some day! :) Until then let me be inspired by creative people like YOU!!

  23. Hiya Pam!
Thanks. That is the exact atmosphere I wanted...cozy! You can start like I did when I got back into minis. I made accessories like perfume bottles from beads and foods. They are tiny and can be stored in small containers. From there I began to study others and branch out. I have a really long way to go to be like those I admire.
